For the past 30-years, we have actively been collecting 18th and 19th century French pottery jars. This has been based on a personal appreciation of the artistry and craftmanship that went into each piece of old French pottery. The history of this particular French pottery jar, was to transport walnut oil and that’s not to say that French pottery jars in this style were not used for water or more lively spirits? What makes this so especially rare is the color, for if my memory is correct, this is the only antique blue French walnut jar we have ever found.
