When we opened our store over 30-years ago in the Chicagoland area, we began installing European unfitted kitchens, composed of using antique furniture pieces in lieu of new cabinetry. One thing led to another and we’ve expanded into fabricating kitchen islands and of course keeping a sharp eye out for great old shop fittings. (Fancy wording for store counters). Generally, they tended to be pine and were worn out, however every once in a great moon you’ll find a white oak or rarer yet, a French walnut potential kitchen island. This particular antique French counter would make for an absolutely incredible country inspired kitchen island. The front three walnut panels are book-matched and the natural grain of the walnut on the doors and counter top is about as good as it gets. We purposely left the backside open, so that you would be able to retrofit for various kitchen accessories and smaller appliances. Also listed is a white oak store counter and there will be an antique painted white counter coming up shortly and several additional kitchen islands from Ireland, England and France, that all will be listed. **Wood filler at the very bottom of both sides.
