We seem to have caught an extremely rare case of Chesterfielditis, as somehow or another we have collected a menagerie of old original leather Chesterfield sofas and chairs from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s. Honestly, is there really anything better than the look and feel of old worn leather? The Chesterfield sofa's origins range from France to England to Ireland. The first Chesterfield sofa to be offered is from Toulouse, France and retains all of its original leather with an incredible patina which morphed the original tan leather into this magical aged caramel saddle colour. There is no certain way to determine when this Chesterfield sofa was constructed, but I can tell you that the padding is a combination of old school horsehair mixed with shredded coco, which is why this Chesterfield sofa has retained its original shape and is as comfortable as it is good looking. The lion paw feet, we have to confess, were our addition, and we cannot even claim it was our own idea. Years ago, we offered a 13’ Chesterfield sofa from the south of France and it had these wonderful brass lion paw feet, which we simply could not resist pilfering. Ever since then, we have applied the lion paw feet to both sofas from our Old Plank Collection of custom furniture, all of which is posted online and to our Old Plank custom-made beds. Should you prefer the turned feet with brass casters, I am quite sure we could accommodate the change.
