The Village of Varennes-sur-Allier was the home of a monastery built in 1891 named; Maison des Freres Maristes. In one of the classrooms stood a pair of immense cabinets, one with glass inserts on the bottom doors (as shown) and the other with solid wood panels. Although the cabinets are constructed primarily of pine, they have taken on the appearance of 100-year old French dark cherry and we did not refinish them, we only enhanced what was already there. The stepped shelving are merely inserts and are only resting on the shelves and can easily be removed.
