Formed in 1880 by Jean-Henry Jansen, Maison Jansen of Paris could be considered the first truly global design company. They enjoyed fashionable clients worldwide and provided design services for European royalty, including decorating the White House during the Kennedy administration. The lamp shown here, was produced by Jansen in the late 1960s, or early 1970s and is called the "Water Lily" model, made of doré plated bronze.
