Classic Antique French Louis XIII Armoire or Cupboard over 300- years old and remarkably still intact and functions as intended. In collecting and purchasing Louis XIII furniture for over 30-years, this is most likely the oldest Louis XIII Armoire or Cupboard we have had. Once you pull out a drawer, you instantly will realize that it was built to last hundreds of years for the weight is incredible. Antique French Furniture from the reign of King Louis XIII (1610-1643) is well known for its solid construction, diamond point geometric carvings and pyramid points. The style originally began around c1600 and continued into the early 1700’s. Over the years the vast majority of Louis XIII furniture we have brought in has been French Oak, but this Louis XIII armoire or cupboard is made from beautiful French Walnut. Our Old Plank restoration department went through the Louis XIII Armoire and there was not a lot requiring attention. The finish on the Louis XIII Armoire was just cleaned up and not restored, this is what we would describe as conservation rather than restoration, where you keep the original patina intact.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. Other than mildly cleaning up the surface, the armoire did not require restoration for it was well maintained in France.
