Antique French Mahogany Louis XVI Style Desk that has just emerged from a multi-month thorough restoration. Yes, we got carried away by the unique crazy build quality that we kept discovering while we disassembled this Louis XVI desk. In our 30-plus years of business there have only been a handful of antiques that we believe were created by a Master Craftsman and this is surely one of maybe five that we’ve seen. For starters, the Mahogany is true Caribbean Mahogany and frequently referred to as Cuban Mahogany. The tiniest hand-cut dovetails we’ve seen on any piece of furniture and it just goes on and on from there. This Louis XVI Desk was built for someone of great wealth and no doubt lived a sheltered life probably in some magnificent French Chateau. Our Old Plank Restoration department took no shortcuts and spent an inordinately excessive amount of man-hours bringing it back to life, without making it appear as though it just came out of a restoration department. Our Mahogany Louis XVI style Desk is truly for someone who appreciates fine quality. Note; If you are looking for perfect, flawless veneer, then this is not for you, but when something is this old there are two choices; replace the veneer or restore and live with the flaws. We opted to keep all of the original Cuban veneer and live with whatever flaws it had
