The bronze castings are solid, not paper thin strips or plated metal; they are attached by a blind method and may be removed, repaired or replaced if ever need be. Painstaking as it was to construct this masterpiece, finishing it was no easy task. It took my expert finisher several days of sanding and staining and polishing between coats to get this finish to build, giving it the intense, deep, rich black finish shown here. Painting would have been much easier however, you lose the distinct tight grain of the mahogany by doing so; therefore ebonizing is much more time consuming and in our opinion, the more desirable way to go. Because this cabinet was custom, it could be re-designed as 4 doors, 6 doors or possibly even a pair of cabinets or cupboards.
