Massive Five Foot Tall Navajo Kachina Doll is signed "by GUY V.Y." on the base, and titled "Eagle Dance" Guy Yazzie and his wife Pearl Zonnie Chee Horseherder Yazzie had at least 8-children and some tell of 12-children. The family lived on a Navajo Reservation in Howell Mesa, Arizona. The Eagle Dancer Kachina Doll, referred to as Kwahu, is a sacred figure in Indian culture. The Eagle Dancer represents strength, power, and is the link between the spiritual world and humans. Eagle Dancers are often featured in the Eagle Dance, a prayer for good crops and rain. There are no eagle feathers used to make this huge Kachina Doll and although a great decorative piece of American Indian art, it is far from any masterpiece. Over the years this Kachina Doll has seen its fair share of restorations and repairs. We would classify this very large 5-foot tall Kachina Doll as “great decorative art”, without breaking the bank. United States, 1970-1979.
