
Mid-Century Modern Edward Wormley for Dunbar Walnut Dining Table and Chairs
Vintage ItemFor over four decades, a leading American furniture designer, Edward J Wormley possessed a flair for embracing modern trends while still holding onto historical influences. Edward J Wormley was noted to combine the finest materials with true craftsmanship which was the basis of his designs. Wormley sits along side many noted contemporaries, such as Harry Bertoia, Charles Eames, George Nelson, Jens Risom, and Eero Sarrinen. By 1931, Edward Wormley was employed by DUNBAR and almost immediately became their Head of Dunbar Design. Wormley was quoted as saying; “Furniture is needed for practical reasons, and because it must be there, it may as well be as pleasant as possible to look at, and in a less definable psychological way, comforting to the spirit.” Mid-Century Modern Edward Wormley for Dunbar round walnut dining room table with 2 x 15" extension leaves along with (4) Dunbar Dining Chairs. The Round Dunbar Dining Table with a pair of matching walnut leaves is in nice original condition, not perfect, but neither are there any major gouges of cracks. The Dunbar Dining Chairs are equally in nice original condition and are quite comfortable.
Condition: Good. Wear consistent with age and use. Certainly not perfect, but absolutely all original with no history of prior repairs.
**Measurements provided are for the table without the leaves. Adding one leaf, length is 60". Adding two leaves, length is 78". The chairs are 31" high, 19.25" seat height, 19.5" wide and 21" deep.
