André Bourrié was born in Montpellier in the south of France in 1936. The Oil Painting is called Aigues-Mortes* which is a walled Medieval City in France founded in the year 1248. In the mid 1990’s André Bourrié was commissioned by the Committee for the Olympic Games to create an image for sailing and thus became the Official Artist by the Atlanta Olympic Organizing Committee. The Atlanta Olympic Poster was called “Passage to Savannah”. André became a distinguished maritime and landscape artist and is one of France’s foremost contemporary master French painters. André Bourrié received several awards, beginning with the Gold Medal of the prestigious “Salon de la Marine” and the Gold Medal of the “Salon des Artistes Français”. André Bourrié’s reputation is for his famous French countryside and sea painting. André Bourrié paintings are in numerous private as well as institutional collections throughout the world. *Aigues-Mortes located in the Occitania region of southern France. France, 1980-1990.
